Weekend Recap - 1W/1L for the Celtics

Hey guys! It's been 3 days now since I wrote my last post which was a preview of our second game of the season against the Bucks. Well, I have to say that I haven't had much time to write during the weekend due to working issues but today I'm back and I'm gonna do a quick recap of what has happened this weekend concerning the Celtics.

Jennings (21p) was one of the Bucks threats (Yahoo)

On friday, we faced the Bucks and the game wasn't good at all. We struggled on both offensive and defensive ends. The bucks, that weren't particularly dangerous, shot the ball with good percentages. They shot 46,5% from 2 and 44,4 from 3 and forced us to commit 18 turnovers. The only good thing was that Terry and Green started to attack a little bit more by scoring 10 and 11 with good percentages. Plus, Sullinger did a great job with 6 points and 7 rebounds. Still, it wasn't enough to win the game. Plus, it didn't help that our Big Three hit 15 shots from 37 (40%). After that disappointing loss, Rondo clarified that this wasn't the way to win games (Via Yahoo): ''It starts and ends with our defense,'' Rondo said. ''I'm the point guard. I'm the first line of defense and initiate the offense. I've got to be better.'' Those were his words after the Jennings show and he definitely thought he had to focus more on defense (like the whole team).

On the following day, after that tough loss against the Bucks, our guys were ready to face the Wizards on a back-to-back game in Washington. Apparently, the Wizards were going to be easier to beat because they were playing without their stars (Nene and Wall) due to injuries. But the game got more complicated that we expected. Imagine how close the game was that it was won thanks to a Pierce late three pointer. Offensively, we were quite off and we missed a lot of shots, but the good thing was that we controlled them defensively (Via Yahoo): ''Our defense put us in the situation to get where we were at,'' Celtics guard Rajon Rondo said. ''We didn't shoot the ball well tonight. We had a lot of easy shots we missed. We can't control that, but what we can control is our effort on the defensive end and we did that tonight.'' These words are the key guys, no matter how we do it offensively, defense always has to be there, because with defense we can win games. It's true that offense helps but you know, it's all about defense. About the next games, I think we don't have to worry because it's still early and our new guys are still adjusting their game (see Terry quote, Via Yahoo): ''We have a lot of new people, a lot of guys trying to get adjusted,''. We just have to wait for them to get to the level that we've been playing the previous seasons. I know it's going to be hard but we've got a very skilled players group with a big dream which is to try to get the 18th banner.

To finish this post I would like to remember an amazing circus shot that Rondo did in the game against the Wizards. What a classy move!

Hola gente! Hoy ya hace 3 días desde la última entrada, concretamente la última previa del partido contra los Bucks. La verdad es que no he tenido mucho tiempo para estar por el blog ya que el trabajo me ha ocupado casi todo el fin de semana pero hoy ya estoy de vuelta para explicaros cómo ha ido el fin de semana en lo que respecta a los Celtics.

El viernes, jugamos contra los Bucks y he de decir que el partido no fue para nada bueno. Jugamos mal tanto ofensivamente como defensivamente. Los Bucks, cuyo juego no destaca por ser especialmente arrollador, tiraron con unos porcentajes del 46,5% en tiros de 2 y un 44,4% en tiros de 3 y nos hicieron cometer 18 pérdidas. Lo único bueno del partido fue que Terry y Green atacaron un poco más que el partido anterior anotando 10 y 11 puntos respectivamente con buenos porcentajes. También Sullinger cuajó una buena actuación con 6 puntos y 7 rebotes. Aún así no fue suficiente para ganar el partido. Hay que decir que tampoco nos ayudó que nuestro Big Three lanzara con un 40% anotando solo 15 de 37 lanzamientos. Después de esta decepcionante derrota, Rondo dijo lo que era evidente, que nuestro problema sigue siendo la defensa (Via Yahoo): "Todo empieza y acaba con nuestra defensa," Rondo dijo. "Soy el base. Estoy en la primera línea de la defensa y el ataque comienza conmigo. Tengo que mejorar". Estas palabras salieron de su boca después del show de Jennings y cómo no, que su intención era mejorar.

El siguiente día, después de la dura derrota contra los Bucks, nuestros jugadores estaban preparados para enfrentarse a los Wizards en Washington. Aparentemente, los Wizards tenían que ser más fáciles de ganar ya que jugaban sin sus estrellas (Nene y Wall) debido a lesiones. Pero contra todo pronóstico, el partido fue más difícil de lo esperado. Imaginaos cómo de reñido estuvo el partido que se tuvo que ganar literalmente gracias a un triple de Pierce. Ofensivamente no estuvimos muy acertados y fallamos muchos tiros pero esta vez contamos con un mejor rendimiento defensivo (Via Yahoo): "Nuestra defensa siempre nos ha ayudado en todo lo que hemos conseguido," Dijo el base de los Celtics Rajon Rondo. "No hemos tirado bien esta noche. Hemos tenido buenas oportunidades hemos fallado. El acierto no se puede controlar pero sí que podemos controlar nuestro esfuerzo desfensivo y lo hemos hecho esta noche." Estas palabras son la realidad ahora mismo para los Celtics, no importa lo mal que lo hagamos en ataque (aunque siempre ayuda), pero la defensa siempre tiene que estar ahí ya que sin la defensa no se ganan partidos. Sobre los siguientes encuentros, creo que no hay porque precouparse ya que aún es pronto y nuestros jugadores nuevos aún están adaptando su juego a nuestros esquemas (ver cita de Terry, Via Yahoo): "Tenemos mucha gente nueva, muchos jugadores intentando ajustar su juego". Creo que la única cosa que podemos hacer en este momento es esperar, tenemos que entender que es un momento de probar los jugadores y diferentes alineaciones para poder llegar al nivel que hemos tenido durante estos últimos años. La verdad es que tenemos un bueno grupo de jugadores y además muy ambiciosos en lo que respecta a conseguir el título décimo octavo.

Para acabar con el post de hoy me gustaría recordar una de las jugadas del partido (y de la temporada) contra Wizards en la que Rondo hace un tiro acrobático impresionante. Qué clase!
